TRAFFIC MANAGER
KCPT Public Television seeks a Traffic Manager to coordinate our programming, promotions, and
underwriting schedules with our engineering staff. Preferred candidate will have some TV experience and knowledge of Protrack Software preferred. Must have excellent computer skills and database proficiency a plus. Must be detail-oriented, have good organizational skills and be self-directed. An ability to communicate well with various internal and external clients is imperative.
Job Summary:
- Generate accurate daily program logs for all broadcast channels in Protrack.
- Seek out and develop new and efficient methods for generating log activity and reports that enhance programming, promotion and underwriting needs: Tracks the following areas: NPS, Local, Pledge and Development promos, station image promotions, social campaign spots, and other categories as they arise.
- Monitor PBS Connect for program information, including program close material that can be incorporated into break planning.
- Manage input and accuracy of log generation through Pro-Track software with programming, promotion and underwriting departments.
- Troubleshoot discrepancies in programming schedule, updates and changes, promotional breaks and underwriting. This includes responsibility for managing contractual flight requirements for underwriting clients
- Maintain accurate and timely information flow between programming, promotion underwriting and master control and Provide a timely and proactive approach to communications follow-up
- Update program changes in Protrack as it relates to log preparation (ex. Pledge and/or last minute Program Changes within the log, etc.) to reflect accurate PSIP information for electronic TV Guide and for ProWeb download..
- Serve as primary contact with Myers Information Systems and stay abreast of program/software changes.
- Monitor allotment of break time to ensure compliance with department distribution and track inventory availability inside breaks and report to Corporate Support department
Education and Experience required. An equivalent amount of training, education and experience will be considered.
- High school diploma or equivalency. Undergraduate degree or some college preferred.
- Knowledge of Protrack Software and Sundance Automation preferred
- Excellent computer skills required.
- Public and written communication skills for interaction with internal staff as well as traffic personnel of other public stations, vendors and engineers.
- Working knowledge of various video/audio formats and sources.

DIRECTOR OF LEADERSHIP GIVING
Job Summary:
The Director of Leadership Giving will oversee major donor giving for KCPT Channel 19, including unrestricted giving, underwriting, capital campaigns, special campaign programs and other opportunities as determined by KCPT leadership. The Director of Leadership Giving will collaborate with management, Board of Directors, other leadership volunteers and professional development staff to facilitate successful major donor development and results.
- Establish relationships with existing and potential donors, identifying KCPT’s programs and services that best align with their interests. Be able to determine readiness of donors to progress toward a deeper engagement with KCPT.
- Create a long-term vision for Leadership Giving, using relationship fund development to reach full potential of major giving at KCPT.
- Lead major giving initiatives, planned giving, and special campaign programs.
- Expand KCPT’s overall donor base by strengthening relationships with high net-worth individuals and foundations and aligning with their interests.
- Establish relationships with potential donors, connecting them with KCPT’s programs and services.
- Leverage all KCPT assets to maximize donor loyalty and lifetime contributions.
Job Functions:
Major Gifts:
- Work with Chief Development Officer and Chief Executive Officer on creation and execution of Strategic Plan for Leadership Giving.
- Qualify and cultivate prospective donors, developing and proposing strategies for solicitation of major gifts, including recommending specific purpose and level of gift; identifying those to be involved in cultivation and subsequent solicitation; assuring that solicitations are carried out.
- Create compelling cases, proposals and partnership opportunities for prospects, including individuals and foundation grants.
- Maximize donor loyalty by coordinating an effective program for recognition, involvement and stewardship of major and special gifts to ensure future giving.
- Review gift acceptance policies and gift use policies to ensure accountability.
- Maintain visibility in greater Kansas City community on behalf of KCPT Channel 19.
- Promote transformational giving by cultivating present donors and prospects to drive significant increases in unrestricted individual giving.
- Maintain KCPT Board of Directors relationships; identify vehicles for involvement and contributions to KCPT.
- Assist Associate Director of Leadership giving to convert current Producers’ Society to a transformational gift level.
- Conduct extensive research to cultivate gifts from foundations and prospective individuals.
- Aggressively make community and foundation contacts; addresses groups and provide outreach to strengthen support for KCPT.
Strategic Planning:
- Participate in KCPT’s leadership strategic planning sessions and internal review to establish realistic goals and budgets.
- Work with KCPT leadership and staff on integrated development plan which will provide a comprehensive view of the interrelationship of development activities with annual programming, outreach and marketing.
- Participate in annual budget preparation, including revenue goals at each level and expenses associated with Leadership Giving program with emphasis on return on investment.
- Assess opportunities within current KCPT programs for major gifts, including Producer’s Society; research ways to expand giving.
- Set annual Leadership Giving goals with management including systems to monitor progress; provide timely reports and make adjustments as needed.
- Create master Leadership Giving plan, including key aspects and structure, relationship to other development activities, benefits to donors and recognition.
Donor Management:
- Monitor deliverables on funded projects and report to donors on the use of their funds, through presentations and written reports.
- Work closely with other KCPT staff members to reinforce prospect relationship continuum, including efficient use of donor and prospect records and data management.
Planned Giving:
- Promote estate-planning opportunities on-air, in print, on the web and in person.
- Develop and utilize annual messaging tools for Legacy Society, including VIP letters, mailings, seminars, and on-air testimonials.
- Develop and provide stewardship opportunities with trust attorneys and financial planners.
- Maintain consistent, ongoing relationship with Legacy Society members.
Team Management:
- Support the Chief Development Officer by providing regular updates on progress, activities and other initiatives.
- Collaborate with Membership Services and Corporate Partnerships to build a cooperative, effective and entrepreneurial development systems for KCPT.
- Foster productive relationships with other departments inside KCPT, including producers, outreach, communications, and education services.
- Provide leadership to the Leadership Giving team, managing overall staff performance, work plans and professional development.
Education and Experience Required: (an equivalent amount of experience, training and education will be considered.)
- Passion for KCPT mission and organizational values.
- Undergraduate degree preferably in marketing, public administration or public relations.
- Minimum five (5) years or more experience in major giving initiatives.
- Knowledge of local and regional philanthropic market.
- Proven ability to analyze, plan, initiate and complete donor initiatives in a strategic manner.
- Superior public relations skills with experience working directly with donors and senior volunteers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively and concisely communicate complex issues.
- High levels of initiative, ability to achieve financial and non-financial objectives and adherence to ethical standards.
- Experience leading fund development staff.
- Ability to sometimes work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.

ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF LEADERSHIP GIVING
Job Summary:
The Associate Director for Leadership Giving will work in collaboration with the Director of Leadership Giving to establish specific performance measures to cultivate and increase giving at the $500 to $5,000 level.
- Connect donor interests to KCPT’s many programs and services.
- Manage and enhance the Leadership Giving database and lead its use as a tool to connect with prospects and donors.
- Assist Director of Leadership Giving, Membership Services and Events Coordinator in planning and execution of VIP cultivation events.
- Maximize donor loyalty and lifetime contributions.
Job Functions:
Donor Relations:
- Promote the Producers’ Society by cultivating and stewarding current mid-level donors in a manner that results in contributions of $1,000+ and increases unrestricted individual giving and membership in the Producers’ Society.
- Help generate leads, acquire and retain members of the Producers’ Soceity.
- Develop and utilize annual messaging tools for Producers Society, including VIP letters, on-air testimonial messaging, and renewal and contribution acknowledgment correspondence with donors at $500+.
- Maintain KCPT Board of Directors relationships; identify vehicles for involvement and contributions to KCPT.
- Schedule and coordinate Producers’ Society events, prospect meetings and stewardship events.
Donor Management:
- Ensure high level of service and engagement with donors and advisors, including communication, administration of gifts, legal or technical due diligence, compliance with charitable requirements and adherence to ethical standards.
- Manage database for all current, prospective and lapsed donors with attention to detail and accuracy regarding profiles, contacts, and giving history/financial reports.
- Prepare briefing and de-briefing notes for donor/prospect calls and ensure that relationships are tracked through MemSys and Salesforce.
- Ensure Development department policies, procedures and systems are effective, efficient, and support major gift fundraising.
- Work directly with Membership Services to effectively move donors up the giving ladder.
Special Campaigns/As Needed:
- Serve as project manager, responsible for team communications, scheduling, and progress reporting.
- Identify and steward potential special campaign donor prospects.
- Write and submit proposals and grants.
- Promote and solicit individual donations.
Team Management:
- Collaborate with the Director of Leadership Giving to build a cooperative, effective Development team for KCPT.
- Ensure that the Leadership Giving team makes effective use of volunteers wherever possible.
Education and Experience Required: (an equivalent amount of experience, training and education will be considered.)
- Passion for KCPT mission and organizational values.
- Undergraduate degree preferably in marketing, public administration or public relations.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in fundraising and/or membership initiatives.

- Self-motivated with strong organizational skills.
- Extensive computer software experience which includes Microsoft Access, Excel and Word.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.
