KCPT and The Bridge Intern Policy
KCPT and The Bridge understands that internships are an important part of professional growth for students and recent graduates. The KCPT and The Bridge internship program provides these young professionals an opportunity to gain a realistic perspective of the working world and obtain marketable work experience at a non-profit multi-media company. Intern experiences occur in all areas of the organization including: production, journalism, interactive, design, fundraising, and administration, and fall into two categories:
1) Curriculum Based Internships in cooperation with Colleges & Universities (paid minimum wage).
2) Post Graduate Internships (paid minimum wage for a period no greater than 6 months).
KCPT and The Bridge works directly with universities to help place qualified students. KCPT and The Bridge requires that current students coordinate with their advisor and/or intern program director to ensure all necessary requirements for college credit are clearly outlined prior to the start date of the internship.
Although KCPT and The Bridge will accept interns from any college or university, active recruitment and cooperative programs have been established with the following regional institutions:
University of Missouri
University of Missouri – Kansas City
Central Missouri State
Northwest Missouri State
University of Kansas
Internship periods are winter/spring (January through April), summer (May through August), and fall (September through December). Interns are required to work 15 hours a week; however, the scheduling of these hours is at the intern’s discretion.
Applicants should indicate which internship period they prefer. The deadline for application is April 9 for the summer period, July 16 for the fall period, and November 1 for the winter/spring period.
