Living with a brain injury is explored in profiles of folks who have recovered from one (cowriter/director Rick Franklin included). The film’s tone is often upbeat. “The disability tragedy model has gone out the window,” says sociologist Mark Sherry of the University of Toledo. “What we have now is disability pride, disability cool, disability chic.”
