Battlefield Missouri: Homeland

Get a sneak preview of the upcoming series "Homeland: Immigration in America”, a co-production between KCPT and Nine Network of Public Media in St. Louis, which focuses on issues surrounding immigration in the heartland, and is airing nationally on PBS. Part 1 of the three-part series will air on KCPT July 26th, immediately following The Local Show.

Last week, KCPT was putting Kansas City on the national programming map as part of the PBS Summer Arts Series when it aired Homecoming: The Kansas City Symphony presents Joyce DiDonato which showcased the Kansas City Symphony and the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts on PBS stations across the country.

This week, Kansas City is back in the national spotlight as PBS runs a documentary series that examines the issue of immigration through the lens of one state…Missouri. HOMELAND was jointly produced by KCPT and KETC, our sister PBS station in St. Louis.

Part One of HOMELAND airs July 26 immediately following The Local Show at 8 p.m. here on KCPT.

New time beginning May 2 ... Monday thru Friday, KCPT2 at 5:30pm

BBC World News will continue to air on KCPT2 at 5am and 11:30pm, but there is a new addition BBC World News America airing on KCPT2 at 5:30pm.

Whether it’s the global economy, the ongoing turmoil in North Africa and the Middle East, Japan’s earthquake crisis, the environment, or the arts, what happens “out there” matters more and more here in America, and BBC World News America will be there to cover it.

Matt Frei and Katty Kay will continue to anchor the program from Washington, and our crack production team will continue to open a window to the world each and every weekday.

The Beatles Magical Mystery Tour

Watch the documentary at 9pm followed by the film at 10pm Friday, December 14, 2012.

Released in 1967, Magical Mystery Tour was arguably ahead of its time, with a mostly improvised and loosely plotted script based around a surreal dreamlike coach trip to an unknown destination. The film is a showcase for six classic tracks including like “I Am the Walrus,” “The Fool on the Hill” and “Your Mother Should Know” and features John, Paul, George and Ringo as themselves. On the coach, they’re joined for a series of episodic misadventures by a cast of eccentric characters, including Auntie Jessie, tour director Jolly Jimmy Johnson, tour hostess Miss Wendy Winters and conductor Buster Bloodvessel. Now fully restored and presented properly for the first time, the film emerges from the shadows and onto the screen.
