The a cappella phenomenon Straight No Chaser, whose quirky version of “The 12 Days of Christmas” was a YouTube sensation, provides a captivating and entertaining evening for all. The 10 male vocalists marry impeccable harmony with just the right amount of humor. This special, which includes material from their EP Six Pack and from an album released in spring, presents a mix of classic hits from the 1950s and 1960s, the Motown era and contemporary pop hits, all with the classic SNC twist. Straight No Chaser are neither strait-laced nor straight-faced, but neither are they vaudeville-style kitsch. As original member Randy Stine comments, “We take the music very seriously; we just don’t take ourselves too seriously.” In the process, they are reinventing the idea of a cappella on the modern pop landscape.
