This special celebrates the work of popular comedian and comic actor Will Ferrell, the latest recipient of The Kennedy Center Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. From the stage of The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC, Ferrell’s friends, contemporaries and co-stars, including Billie Joe Armstrong of the band Green Day, Ed Asner, Jack Black, Matthew Broderick, Gwen Ifill, Adam McKay, im Meadows, Conan O’Brien, John C. Reilly, Paul Rudd, Andy Samberg, Molly Shannon and Ben Stiller, salute the 14th recipient of the humor prize.

Beginning at 6pm Hyacinth Bucket teaches us How to Enhance Your Husband’s Retirement; “Dewhirst’s Nature Tours” are launched by Foggy after he believes he’ s discovered the nesting place of a giant woodpecker on Last of the Summer Wine; Jean and Lionel have made the decision to live together, however, wires get crossed and there is confusion about who is to go live with whom, on As Time Goes By. Then at 7:30, housemates Tom and Roy may be past their prime, but they are not past fancying women, competing with one another, showing off, squabbling and getting into trouble on Old Guys; and finally at 8pm, Season Three of Doc Martin premieres with Part 1 of On the Edge. Having failed to restart his relationship with Louisa Glasson, Martin is forced out of the picture with the arrival of her dad, Terry Glasson.

The Old Guys

The Old Guys features two elderly delinquents, Tom and Roy, who believe there is life in the old dog yet – but it might just need a kick - Saturdays at 7:30 pm on KCPT and 10:30 pm on KCPT2.

These are two older guys for whom life is just beginning.

Tom is a baby-boomer who has never done anything with his life. However, he is sure that’s all about to happen now he has a Freedom Pass.

Roy is a suburban pensioner who suspects he may be one of the UK’s leading intellectuals.

When Roy’s wife left him, Tom moved in and together they are determined to go out in a blaze of glory.

The series is written by award-winning writers Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong (Peep Show) with Simon Blackwell (The Thick Of It) and is produced by BBC Scotland.
