Joshua Fish honored at the Electric League/KCPT Luncheon

Joshua Fish is the winner in the Electric League/KCPT "Shocking Truth" Storyboard contest!

Joshua Fish, freshman from the South Harrison High School in Bethany, MO was the winner in the Electric League/KCPT Shocking Truth Storyboard contest. Joshua’s spot gave great tips on how to be safe around electricity. His spot will be broadcast on KCPT beginning in January. Joshua also received an iPad as the grand prize.

Meet Sid the Science Kid!

Scientist in the house! Sid the Science Kid is coming to Union Station on December 3, 2011.

Scientist in the house! Sid the Science Kid is coming to Union Station on December 3, 2011.

Enjoy a special pancake breakfast with Sid from 9am to 12pm, Tickets are $5 per person and can be purchased through Union Station’s website. Kids 2 and under are free as long as they eat from parent’s plate.

From 12 to 2pm, meet and take your picture with Sid. This portion of Sid’s visit is free and open to the public.

With purchase of breakfast, KCPT Member Card holders will receive a free ride for their children on the Jones Store Train, free admission to “Grand Canyon” at either 12 noon or 2 pm, and $5 USKC Member price admission to “America I AM” (all valid 12/3/2011 only).

KCPT and Black & Veatch kicked off a mentor program at the Foreign Language Academy in the Kansas City Mo School District. This begins a series of interactions between the class and the engineers from Black & Veatch. The students learned how electricity is produced and how they can minimize their carbon footprint.
