Come celebrate the Second Annual Touch-a-Truck at the Overland Park Convention Center on Sunday, July 17, 2011 from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.

BEEP BEEP! Come celebrate the Second Annual Touch-a-Truck, a family event taking place at the Overland Park Convention Center on Sunday, July 17, 2011 from 11:00 am-5:00 pm. First 200 families through the doors will recieve a swag bag with coupons and gifts from local businesses!

Presented by KCPT and 99.7 The Point the event will be a fun, hands-on, and educational event for kids of all ages to see their favorite trucks up close.

Event is FREE Admission with two (2) non-perishable food donations per person to Harvesters. One for each hand!!

Signing Time

New series to introduce children to sign language.
Watch Saturdays at 7:30am.

Signing Time! is a multi-sensory series that introduces children and their caregivers to American Sign Language (ASL), a “hands on” second language used by millions. Rachel Coleman, her children Leah and Alex, and Hopkins, an animated frog, teach ASL signs for the alphabet, animals, feelings, foods, manners, colors, sports, days of the week, questions and common phrases, family members, as well as everyday objects and activities. In the first episode, My First Signs, Alex and Leah play in their magical tree house as they share the very first signs they learned.

Local Kid on Biz Kid$

Jeffrey Owen Hanson, a 17-year-old who lives in the Kansas City area, is featured on an upcoming episode of public television’s Emmy Award-winning financial literacy series, Biz Kid$.

Jeffrey, who is visually impaired due to neurofibromitosis, is an accomplished painter – and stock market investor. He talks about how he started investing at age 14 and gives advice about how to choose stocks.

Jeffrey’s episode, “What’s Up with the Stock Market?,” airs Sunday, May 8 at 4:30pm on KCPT 19.1.

“What’s Up with the Stock Market?” is the fourth episode of the fourth season of Biz Kid$, public television’s fun, fast-paced series that teaches kids about money and business.

Other new episodes this season include a show about taxes, debt, big purchases, starting a business, how to make a million dollars, business scams, and the value of currency.

Created by the producers of “Bill Nye, the Science Guy,” Biz Kid$ features comedy sketches and movie spoofs that appeal to kids and adults alike. Each episode also includes profiles of young entrepreneurs and social philanthropists.
