GardenSMART New Season

Cover all corners of the US, feature homeowner's gardens, historic locations and visit research facilities. Watch Wednesdays at 9am on KCPT2.

2011 marks the 13th  season the team at GardenSMART has been producing gardening programming for public television stations. Each season is unique and exciting because we’re never behind a potting bench, rather traveling the country showing off beautiful, unusual locations and gardens. And, there are many fantastically beautiful, one-of-kind gardens that provide gardening lessons galore all across this great land.

2011 is the best yet. We’ll cover all corners of the U.S., feature homeowner’s gardens, historic locations and visit research facilities. Along the way we discover the latest plants and techniques, address “green” and “sustainable” issues, as well as “in” and popular topics, such as “community gardens” and “vegetable gardening.”

Importantly, each week GardenSMART interviews experts/horticulturist that successfully garden for a living. This ensures the information presented is accurate and practical. We’re constantly striving to determine the latest gardening trends, then develop programs that shed light on that topic. The shows are accurate, the information – cutting edge.

The first episode tackles changing the driveway, the front door area and the landscaping can present challenges.

Nature: Oceans in Glass

Watch Sunday, July 10, 2011 at 7pm.

Thanks to its realistic presentations, the Monterey Bay Aquarium is recognized as one of the most significant and spectacular aquariums in the world. Instead of exhibiting collections of animals, the aquarium presents entire habitats, virtual slices of ocean that include 30,000 animals and plants. But how does an aquarium work? What’s the science behind the magic? Each of the animals here has a story to tell, but of all the animals to be seen here, there is one animal in particular whose presence is drawing world-wide attention – a great white shark.
