The show Check, Please! originated in Chicago and has become a popular local restaurant review show across America. Those who know about the show rave about it and love that it has come to Kansas City.
Check, Please! Kansas City is not just a source for local restaurant reviews from real people, like you. It also provides local restaurants an opportunity for free promotion. To top it off, Kansas City’s very own Master Sommelier and Master of Wine, Doug Frost hosts the show! But the enthusiasm skyrockets when it comes to the reviewers chosen to be on the show.

Guest reviewers on the set
They come from all walks of life—attorneys, scrub techs, self-proclaimed media darlings—and the list goes on. They live all over the metropolitan area and beyond, as far away as Lawrence and Paola to way past the other side of state line to Higginsville and St. Joe. The reviewers are not affiliated with any restaurant, nor are they food experts. The one thing the guests share is their passion for food and for their chosen restaurant.
Each episode features three guest reviewers; each recommends his or her favorite restaurant. The other two go and check out the other two restaurants for themselves. Afterwards, they all meet at the KCPT studios to discuss their experiences.
Just to be clear, this program is not only for bon vivants; it is also for the run of the mill “foodies.” All of the guests are equally enthusiastic with their critique as they are with their praise. And that’s where the drama comes in. Thankfully, there are no fisticuffs or brawls and nobody wields a knife in defense of a bad review, but offense is taken and words are exchanged. That excitement you’ll have to see for yourself.
