In a vibrant, age-friendly community, people say “YES” to life. They engage in service to the community and find access to meaningful work. Family, neighbors and friends maintain strong connections with one another and older adults have opportunities for giving and receiving practical and the kind of support that benefits us all.
In the next Imagine KC, we look at programs and activities that keep older adults engaged in our communities. We’ll check out individuals who have found their “second act” through volunteering, paid employment and other activities; organizations like Shepherd Center and Jewish Family Services that have benefitted from the expertise of older adult volunteers; and strategies to connect willing seniors with meaningful involvement.
