Missouri State Senator Paul LeVota (D) announced his resignation via Facebook following two days of public and political pressure to do so. Two former female college interns accused LeVota of engaging in sexual harassment. One produced incriminating texts allegedly authored by the senator. LeVota says he is innocent, but chose to resign because the incident was becoming a "distraction." If he's not guilty, why not stay and fight?
The KCI airport study committee says Southwest Airlines believes it would be more expensive to renovate KCI than to rebuild it. While no official recommendation is yet forthcoming, news accounts suggest the city and the airlines are leaning toward that viewpoint. If implemented, the airport would be built at the site of the current Terminal A. Are Kansas Citians comfortable with a new and different KCI?
Steve Rose has written another column saying the late Arkansas segregationist governor, Orval Faubus, would feel right at home in Kansas because of the atmosphere created by the Republican governor and legislature. The column refers to the earlier discussion on Ruckus and Mike Shanin's suggestion that the comparison was "outrageous." Rose says not so. Why exactly would Faubus feel at home in Kansas?
