Volunteer

Ready to make an impact? Kansas City PBS is seeking committed volunteers passionate about our mission, programming and initiatives. Volunteers are the engine behind our station’s wide range of projects. Most importantly, our network of dedicated volunteers helps us keep the public in public media.

Opportunities to serve include administrative help, educational program guides and KCPBS Ambassadors. As a community-chartered station, all local support is critical to our work. Donating your time allows KCPBS to produce local journalism, quality educational programming, free events and enables us to serve more of the Kansas City metro. Please consider volunteering for KCPBS today.

Volunteer Opportunities at Kansas City PBS

Administrative Volunteers

Administrative Volunteers will assist staff with various projects at the station during business hours. Donor gift mailings, data entry and packing materials for events or off-site projects are examples of additional station needs that utilize administrative volunteers. Volunteers may be asked to train as the front desk receptionist. Opportunities exist year-round, with different needs in December and January assisting the membership department with end-of-year giving initiatives.

Trusted Guides

Trusted Guide Volunteers are needed to support the efforts of the Kansas City PBS Education Department, which serves hundreds of children each year, providing training opportunities for teachers and administrators and learning resources to parents. Possibilities could include assisting with administrative tasks, working with children and parents at workshops and facilitating activity stations at children’s events.

Ambassadors

Kansas City PBS Ambassadors represent the station at community and station events by greeting guests and community groups, assisting with food and beverage hospitality, helping with event set up and breakdown, and serving as a liaison for speakers or an usher during seated events.

To apply, complete the Volunteer Inquiry Form. All volunteers must follow the Volunteer Program Code of Conduct and sign a Publicity Release, Waiver of Liability and Hold Harmless Agreement and Data Confidentiality Agreement.
